How do I control the page order?

Drag the cards after adding them. The PDF follows that order exactly, one image per page.

Why does my photo have white space around it?

Fitting a photo to A4 leaves bars wherever the shapes do not match. Choose Fit to image instead and each page is sized to its own photo.
